Tycho Supernova Remnant
This new observation reveals a pattern of X-ray stripes never seen before in a supernova remnant. The low energy X-rays are shown in red, and the high energy X-rays are shown in blue. This composite image (X-ray and optical) could help to explain how some extremely energetic particles bombarding Earth, and produced. The image is 19 arcmin across (around 55 light years), and the distance from Earth is around 13,000 light years.
